Feature: Anti-Glare Diamond Shield™

Benefit: High-contrast picture without annoying reflections from sunlight and home lighting.

Explanation: While light from cathode ray tubes (CRTs) or a DLP™ light engine creates the picture you watch on a projection television, other light sources can degrade that picture. The ambient light in your viewing room, whether it comes from a lamp or sunlight streaming through a window, may hit the screen and create glare. There are many techniques available to cut glare, but while selecting a glare reduction system the optical engineer must not:

  1. Diffuse or soften the image.
  2. Reduce the viewing angle. You want to be able to sit as far as possible to the left or right of the screen without noticing any change in the picture.
  3. Create other undesirable side effects such as hot spotting.
  4. Noticeably darken the picture.

Mitsubishi's Anti-Glare Diamond Shield™ screen greatly reduces glare without causing any of the above problems. It does so with a special process by which a super-fine coating is evenly applied to the screen surface. This coating disperses reflected light, diverting it from the viewing area. However, because it is so fine in grain, even an HDTV picture can go through it with no degradation.

The result is a picture beyond comparison.
